| We have accumulated 926 hours of chill by the end of February here in the Fredericksburg area. This is adequate winter cold for the peach varieties grown here. The flower buds are swelling with pink color and will be opening this week March 10 with full color by weekend of March 15-16. We, the growers, want to avoid any freezes to the blossoms during the March 12 to March 22 period. Rains have started to fall in time for the new spring growth. We are looking forward to great tasty peaches in 2008! |
